| History and organisation |
Background In Denmark the association has existed since 1976 where it was founded under the name of "European Association of Professional Assistants".
Who is eligible for membership Full membership is granted to persons who have worked for a period of at least three years as for instance management assistant, executive assistant, professional/executive secretary, personal assistant, office manager or senior administrator - preferably with direct report to the executive management.
Individual membership is available for persons such as staff managers, training or recruitment specialists, teachers, and former full members who have changed their profession.
Associate membership is available to management assistants and executive secretaries who, not yet, qualify for full membership.
Corporate affiliate membership is available to for instance firms and organisations, chambers of commerce, international organisations, in fact to all enterprises, taking an interest in European Management Assistants.
Why should you become a member A membership of European Management Assistants will give you a highly professional network both in Denmark and throughout Europe. This network offers many shortcuts to solution of problems and there is a vast fund of experience to be drawn upon. Many of our members have established close connections as a consequence of their membership. The monthly meetings and social gatherings offer a good opportunity to make friendly acquaintances among equals, and the speeches and workshops that are offered will contribute to your personal development.
So, do not hesitate - join us, we look forward to meeting you!
Structure of the national group The National Committee - consisting of 8 elected members - meet once a month. These meetings are organised by the National Chairman, but are held at the board members' offices in turn.
Twice a year (in April - in connection with the national General Meeting - and in October) members meetings are held. At these meetings sub-committees are established or renewed to help the National Committee carry out the various tasks of the association.
We have established the following groups:
Event groups - East & West Denmark: There are two event groups, one for East and one for West Denmark. All meetings are open to all national members - but because of transportation time and cost, some meetings are attended locally only.
There are approximately 10 events per year - one a month, except for the summer period.
Tutor group: In order for new member to become quickly and smoothly integrated in our network we have formed a tutor group who will look after newcomers, and see to it that they are well received and feeling comfortable amongst us.
PR group: The PR group assists the Public Relations Officer in marketing European Management Assistants in Denmark. The main tasks are:
Editing Impetus (the local magazine), Writing articles for proActive (the European EUMA magazine), Developing and updating national pages on our website, Making contact to media, Introducing European Management Assistants to relevant people and companies, Ad hoc marketing jobs. |
